The English Music Festival

This year’s English Music Festival will hear the world premiere of Stanford’s Concert Overture in A minor (1870) performed in the opening Friday night concert at 7:30 on the 26th May in Dorchester Abbey. It will feature alongside premiere performances of works by Vaughan Williams and Phillips.

Finished by Stanford on the 30th July 1870, the Concert Overture in A minor was unpublished and has possibly never been performed.

Other works by Stanford will be heard throughout the Festival including the Te Deum in C, Bible song ‘Pray that Jerusalem’ Op.113 No.4 and Piano Trio no.3 in A major, op.158.
