The work is in two movements; the first taking the form of variations on an original theme and the second, an Irish reel. The premiere was given by the Harrison sisters in a reduced form prepared by Stanford on 4th December 1918 at Wigmore Hall. The full orchestral version was heard only once at Bournemouth on 22nd April 1920. This orchestral version will be performed by the Leamington Chamber Orchestra.
