Songs of the Heart and Hereafter
An evening of songs showcasing the work of British composer, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, alongside songs written by his peers, Elgar and Vaughan-Williams, and his composition teacher at the Royal College of Music, Charles Villiers Stanford.
Coleridge-Taylor was once hailed by a New York critic in 1901 as the “Black Mahler”, so the recital ends with a performance of Elizabeth’s favourite collection of songs, Mahler’s Rückert Lieder.
